"Spirit of Science" is a documentary about Masamitsu Nagaoka who has been involved in making more than 30 samples of scientific kit supplements to "Otona no Kagaku" (Science for adults) magazine since the first issue of the magazine. This time, Masamitsu tries a faithful miniaturization of Animaris Rhinoceros Transport, which is one of the wind-walking "Strandbeest" sculptures created by Dutch sculptor Theo Jansen, for a supplement to the magazine. Masamitsu tries one thing to another to make this complex sculpture into an easy-to-assemble supplement. Masamitsu demands great accuracy down to less than 0.5 mm, and Chinese craftmans devote themselves to their work to meet Masamitsu’s requirements. The camera follows the story of cross-border efforts of the skilled artisans.
