Born in Tokyo in 1946, Hisako Matsui made her directorial debut with the award-winning “Yukie” in 1998. She then produced, wrote, and directed the highly successful “Oriume” (2002). In 2004 she published a collection of her autobiographical writings “Turning Point.”
