PAJU

  • Korea/2009/110min.
  • Director: Park Chan-ok

After three years in India, Eun-mo is back in her hometown of Paju, where she has to face the dreaded reunion with Joong-shik, her widowered brother-in-law. Once a political activist, Joongshik came into her life a decade ago first as her teacher, then as her sister’s husband. Now Eunmo has to face her own conflicting emotions towards Joong-shik and come to terms with the truth behind the sudden death of her sister. In her second feature “Paju,” which Variety described as “Bergmanesque,” Korea’s Park Chan-ok explores complex human relationships with great sensitivity.
