Due to Israeli government’s immigration policy that “children of immigrants under 5 years of age must be deported even when they were born in Israel,” young children of migrant workers are being deported from the country. Filipino worker Moises goes to great length to hide the presence of his own child, but it certainly is not easy. While focusing on the main plot about parents, children, and family at the mercy of the new immigration policy, Transit also tells stories about a foreign worker in illegal employment, and a girl suffering from an identity problem as she sees her Israeli boyfriend, etc., by having four or five cameras in simultaneous operation. Director Hannah Espia’s first full-length feature, Transit was awarded numerous awards including the Best Film award at Chinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival which is known as the gateway to success for Philippine independent cinema.
